Patreon is a membership platform that enables podcasters and other content creators to earn recurring revenue from their audiences. The platform allows creators to offer tiered subscription memberships with exclusive content, ad-free episodes, and community features to their supporters.

For podcasters specifically, Patreon provides tools to sync content with Spotify, manage multiple shows under a single account, and host live streaming sessions. Creators can distribute their podcasts via RSS feeds while offering premium content exclusively to paying members. The platform reported that podcasters earned more than $472 million in 2024, with 15% of listeners who visit a Patreon page via Spotify integration becoming paying members.

Patreon also functions as a community hub where creators can engage directly with their audiences through group chats, direct messages, comments, and email. The platform operates an online shop feature that allows creators to sell individual episodes, archived content, and merchandise beyond the subscription model. More than 60% of new paid memberships come from users already active on the Patreon platform.
